    • Step 3: Enjoy real-world results and ongoing support as you build a positive, lasting relationship with your dog.

What happens during the initial phone call?
During our chat, we’ll discuss your dog’s behavior, your training goals, and any specific concerns you have. This helps us recommend the training plan that best suits your needs.

Is there any cost involved in the initial phone call?
No, the initial phone call is completely free.

Is there a minimum age to start training?
There’s no minimum age, but very young puppies typically start with our Puppy Kindergarten or Puppy Board & Train options. Training is tailored based on each puppy’s age and development to ensure effective learning.

Is my dog too old for training?
Age doesn’t limit a dog’s ability to learn new things. While we consider realistic goals and comfort for older dogs, the most important factor is the owner’s willingness to engage in the training process.

  • What’s the difference between Private Lessons and Board & Train?

    • Private Lessons: One-on-one sessions, typically weekly, where we teach you to work with your dog at home. Private lessons allow for gradual progress and hands-on involvement in training.

    • Board & Train: Your dog lives and trains with us during the week, returning home on weekends to practice new skills. Board & Train offers faster results for foundational skills and behavioral adjustments.

What’s the structure of the Board & Train program?

    • Puppy Board & Train: Choose between the 2-Week Puppy Prep School, which focuses on foundational skills like house manners, crate training, and basic commands, or the 4-Week Puppy Academy, which builds on these skills with more advanced training and confidence-building. Puppies return home on weekends to practice and reinforce progress.

    • Adult Board & Train: Tailored to your dog's unique needs, the program is available in durations of 3, 4, or 5 weeks. It can address basic obedience, behavior modification, or off-leash reliability, with progress updates and opportunities to practice skills at home on weekends.

What should I expect from Private Lessons?
Private lessons are designed to meet your dog’s individual training goals, from basic communication and obedience to addressing specific behavioral challenges. With weekly sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to practice and reinforce new skills at home, ensuring steady progress throughout the program.

  • What types of tools do you use in training?
We use tools that are practical, effective, and humane, tailored to your dog’s individual needs and training goals. Our balanced training approach emphasizes positive reinforcement while incorporating other tools as needed to ensure clear communication and lasting results.

How long does it take to see training results?
The timeline for results depends on your dog’s unique behavior, the goals you want to achieve, and your consistency in reinforcing the training. Many dogs show noticeable progress within the first few sessions, but long-lasting results often require ongoing practice and dedication.

  • What do you expect from clients during the training process?
We ask clients to stay committed, consistent, and open to learning throughout the training process. Success hinges on following training recommendations, maintaining a positive mindset, and adapting your routines as needed to support your dog’s progress.

What makes an ideal client for Loose Leash Canine?
The ideal client values their dog’s well-being and is ready to invest time and effort into achieving lasting results. This includes being proactive about making adjustments in daily routines and consistently reinforcing the training at home.

What can disqualify someone from being a client?
We may not be able to take on clients whose dogs have health conditions that prevent effective training or if the client is unwilling to follow training guidelines. Additionally, we do not provide services like agility or protection training, which may make us an unsuitable fit for certain training goals.

  • Do you offer guarantees?
Success relies on the consistent commitment of both the trainer and the owner. While we don’t guarantee specific behaviors, we’re committed to providing ongoing support and guidance to help you reach your goals—as long as you’re engaged in the process and following the training plan. This includes staying in communication with us, sharing feedback, and consistently applying our guidance. We’ll be here to help you succeed.
